Priorities of Private Hospitals in Ukraine

Interview with Olena Yeshchenko, Head of the Association of Private Medical Institutions of Ukraine, PhD, co-founder and  CEO of the network of private clinics Smart Medical Center and Smart klinika (Ukraine)

What are your priorities in Ukraine?

The Association of Private Medical Institutions of Ukraine is a network of medical centres and laboratories working to develop private medicine in Ukraine and implement its most progressive and modern models.

Our priorities are development, professionalism, quality medicine and fair competition.

We strive to win the trust of Ukrainian society in private medicine and to guarantee equal rights in the healthcare system.

Why was it important for the Association to join UEHP?

For us, UEHP is an opportunity to study the best global medical practices, as a large number of clinics from many European countries are UEHP members. It is an opportunity to gain new experiences and share our own, as we manage to implement many progressive and important projects even in times of war. It is also an opportunity to receive support and strengthen the influence and voice of private medicine in Europe as a whole and in Ukraine in particular.

What are your expectations from this cooperation?

We will be grateful for the opportunity to receive information on the organisation and operation of the various health systems in European countries and to familiarise ourselves with the work of clinics in other European countries. We would like to participate in UEHP educational events in order to improve our professional standards, to participate in the elaboration of a strategy for the development of medicine and its quality control system in the European region, and to be useful in lobbying for the rights and support of private hospitals.

We are sincerely grateful for the support and warm attitude that our organization has received in your community from the first minutes.

The Association of Private Medical Institutions of Ukraine brings together over 40 members — leading private clinics and clinic networks operating in the Ukrainian healthcare market. Collectively, they represent more than 10,000 employees and serve over 7 million patients annually.

UEHP welcomes the Association of private medical institutions of Ukraine as an observer member
