MedTech & Digital Health Kosova 2026

Interview with Arton Kubati, Chairman of  the Association of Private Hospitals in Kosovo (ASPKS)

Your event MedTech & Digital Health Kosova*, which took place last 16 June 2026 in Pristina dealt with healthcare and innovation, especially digital and AI-driven technologies, as well as cybersecurity. What were the most impactful insights from the discussions?

MedTech & Digital Health Kosova generated several decisive insights. Participants highlighted the accelerating adoption of digital and AI-driven solutions across diagnostics, patient management and clinical decision support. The discussions underscored the imperative of interoperability and common data standards to ensure continuity of care, alongside an urgent need to strengthen cybersecurity and patient-data privacy protections within health institutions. Speakers also identified a significant skills gap in digital competencies among health professionals and emphasized the importance of public–private partnerships to finance, pilot and scale innovations.

Is the private healthcare sector in Kosovo well equipped to cope with the ongoing technological changes in healthcare? How do you see your sector developing in the coming years?

The readiness of Kosovo’s private healthcare sector to absorb technological change is high. Leading providers have begun investing in telemedicine, electronic patient‑management systems and AI-enabled tools, yet many institutions continue to face infrastructural, financial and workforce-skill constraints. Looking ahead, we anticipate a gradual but sustained digital transformation driven by wider telemedicine adoption, increased use of AI in diagnostics and renewed investment in cybersecurity. Achieving a durable transition will require coordinated private investment, regulatory incentives, structured workforce training and collaborative financing and pilot models.

To what extent might your close relationship with UEHP – and in particular with its member associations – potentially help you to tackle the challenges facing all healthcare systems?

Our close relationship with UEHP and its member associations materially strengthens our ability to address shared challenges. This partnership facilitates transfer of best practices and lessons learned on technology deployment and cyber‑risk management, enables standardized training and capacity building for clinical and IT staff, and supports collective advocacy for appropriate regulatory frameworks and technical standards. Moreover, coordinated initiatives including joint procurement, shared pilots and regional projects can reduce costs, accelerate scale-up and enhance the overall resilience of healthcare systems.

MedTech & Digital Health Kosova took place on 16 June 2026 and was organized by the Association of Private Hospitals of Kosovo (ASPKS) and Chester Group as part of Kosova Health Forum. It brought together public institutions, healthcare professionals, hospital and clinic leaders, medical technology companies, digital transformation experts, international organizations, and other key stakeholders shaping the future of healthcare.
