Review of the FutureTalk 2024 congress: ‘Shaping the future of private healthcare’

FutureTalk 2024 brought together international and domestic industry experts and visionaries to shape the future of private healthcare. The two-day event focused on exciting presentations and lively discussions that shed light on current and future developments in Austria, Europe and beyond.

Current and future challenges for private healthcare in Austria

One of the biggest challenges for private healthcare in Austria is securing sustainable financing. A key issue is the creation of a level playing field for public and private healthcare organisations with equal performance. It is also becoming increasingly important to attract qualified medical staff and retain them in the long term in order to ensure the high quality of care. At the same time, the central topic is digitalisation in the healthcare sector, in particular the integration of new technologies and increasing efficiency.

International insights from the exchange

The international programme of the congress enabled a valuable exchange with experts from different countries. The presentations began with an international outlook by Dr Paul Garassus, President of the UEHP (European Union of Private Hospitals). Cyril Toma, Managing Partner of ICME, offered a fascinating look at trends in the non-European healthcare industry using examples from Malaysia, Abu Dhabi and the USA. In particular, the digital medicine strategies from Abu Dhabi, for example, provided interesting impulses and solutions that can serve as best practices for other countries in Austria.

Outlook: Study tour to Brussels

We are pleased to announce a study tour to Brussels next spring from 5 – 7 March 2025. This will offer members of the Association of Private Hospitals in Austria the opportunity to learn first-hand about European healthcare strategies and the future direction of healthcare policy.

FutureTalk 2024 has shown that dialogue across national borders is crucial to finding innovative approaches and making private healthcare in Austria fit for the future.
