European Union of Private Hospitals

The main priorities for the private health sector in Poland in 2024

By Dr Andrzej Sokołowski, President of the Polish Association of Private Hospitals (OSSP)

There have been changes in the authorities of the Ministry of Health. Poland has a new minister – an economist, 3 deputy ministers from local hospitals. There is one deputy minister left from the party that lost power in the last elections. Maciej Miłkowski will still be responsible for drug policy. The latter participated in several UEHP meetings in Poland.

A recent topic is quality standards in health care. The ministerial commission appointed by the previous government presented proposals for recommended quality indicators in health care. The team presented, among others: 36 quality assessment indicators in the clinical area. According to the proposal, in the management area, indicators will be used only for benchmarking. However, in terms of clinical and consumer indicators, some of them will certainly be rewarded with additional financing.

We will soon see what the new government’s health care policy will be.
