The European Union of Private Hospitals (UEHP) recently concluded a high-impact participation in the Healthcare Business International (HBI) 2026 conference, held from March 23-25 at the CNIT Forest in Paris. Under the overarching theme of “Creating Value in Changing Times,” the event served as a critical platform for UEHP to reinforce the role of private healthcare providers in building resilient European health systems.
The event began with a great start at the HBI CEO Club, proudly supported and co-organised by UEHP. This exclusive gathering provided a fantastic opportunity to bring together leaders, exchange insights, and discuss the most pressing challenges that the healthcare sector faces. We were especially honoured to have our Honorary President, Dr. Paul Garassus, involved and delivering a speech, contributing valuable insights to the discussion. He was joined by our Secretary General, Ms. Ilaria Giannico, and our Board member from Greece, Ms. Eleni Androni, who participated actively in the roundtable debates. Together, they brought vital EU and Greek perspectives to the table, setting a collaborative tone for the days ahead.

Beyond the CEO Club, the UEHP delegation, led by President Oscar Gaspar, remained at the forefront of discussions regarding investment and cross-border collaboration.
Key highlights of the conference included:
- Procurement and Sustainability: President Oscar Gaspar delivered a keynote at the Procurement Summit, highlighting how strategic partnerships and value-based procurement can mitigate rising costs. Honorary President, Dr Paul Garassus, contributed to discussions on the evolving role of procurement and partnerships in healthcare. From strengthening collaboration between public and private stakeholders to exploring new financing models and innovation-driven approaches, the session highlighted how procurement is becoming increasingly strategic in building resilient health systems. A key takeaway: closer alignment between industry, policymakers, and providers is essential to tackle challenges like resource constraints, access to innovation, and long-term sustainability.
- A “Europe of Health”: UEHP continued to advocate for a more integrated European health space, focusing on how public-private partnerships (PPPs) can tackle workforce shortages.
- Digital Transformation: Members explored the role of AI and Big Data in improving diagnostics and treatment outcomes.
