After the splendid European Private Hospitals Awards ceremony in Pavilao Carlos Lopes in Lisbon, the UEHP Board and Council met, kindly hosted by Hospital CUF Tejo, one of the largest and most advanced private hospitals in town.
The UEHP members were warmly welcomed by Dr Ignacio Almeida e Brito, who explained about the history and structure of the hospital.
They could then benefit from the vast experience and knowledge of Prof. Quieroz e Melo, retired cardiologist and pioneer of heart transplants in Portugal. He held a very insightful presentation on the One health approach and the circular economy and what role do hospitals play in it.
After the public session, we dived into the curent and future projects and activities for UEHP and how to best align with the current challenges in health and with the European institutions scheduled in June 2024.
The next UEHP Board and Council meetings will be held in Warsaw in September, kindly hosted by the Polish Association of Private Hospitals OSSP.
