UEHP Secretary General, Ms Giannico, was invited as panellist to attend this year’s edition of the MedTech Forum, organised in Vienna last 22-24 May.
The MedTech Forum is the largest health and medical technology industry conference in Europe and a key event since 2007, bringing together key players in the medical technology industry to explore the latest trends, innovations and opportunities.
During the forum, the European Alliance for Value in Health (of which UEHP is a full member), organised a working session on Value Based Healthcare (VBHC), presenting its latest report “A Compass for Collaboration: Navigating Stakeholders’ Roles in Transitioning To Value-Based Healthcare”.
Health system transformation requires a multi-stakeholder approach, yet it remains unclear how e.g. providers, patients, payers and industry may support the transition.
Introduced by a presentation by Ms Steele (Vintura) on the background and conclusions of the report, the panellists from the European Alliance for Value in Health discussed how each stakeholder may contribute, and what is expected from the others.
Ms Giannico focused on how the VBHC transition impacts hospitals and what are the most innovative projects and initiatives going on in our private hospitals around Europe. Ms Giannico stressed “VBHC requires a holistic approach which spans the entire patient pathway and engages all healthcare stakeholders – so it is vital that different groups understand their roles”.
