We responded enthusiastically to the invitation of the Portuguese Association of Private Hospitals (APHP). As the first international event since the COVID crisis, we were delighted to meet in Lisbon to rebuild this atmosphere of collaborative work. 72 applications from private hospitals from 10 European countries were assessed by an independent Jury, whom we would like to thank, resulting in 7 awards.
The quality of the candidates was truly exceptional, and it was difficult to decide between them. We would like to thank them all for their participation and congratulate the winners. We are very proud of this federative event which allowed Europe of health to renew itself in a common and constructive approach. And UEHP thanks the organisers for their professional and friendly welcome. The challenge now will be to repeat such a beautiful event next year!
But our commitment will not waver. Today, the central issue that we are raising at the European level is that of galloping inflation, while hospital funding is not adjusted to this economic pressure. After the difficult question of the attractiveness of health professions, the question of financing to match costs is a major problem throughout Europe. We are calling on all political and social partners to find an appropriate response that meets the challenge of guaranteeing quality of care.
