European Union of Private Hospitals

Jan 24 – Unity in a fragmented world?

2024 begins in a context of global macro-economic challenges: high inflation, low growth and a high debt economy questioning investment for services and infrastructure.

This year, we will be facing important elections, and our European objective must take into account all these challenges and their potential impact. The development of our human and technical professions must be integrated now if we are to provide the health services that our fellow citizens expect tomorrow. But the private hospital sector must also participate in the efficiency of healthcare systems, because value-based medicine must remain the guiding principle of effective medico-economic regulation.

As BIAC members, we followed with great interest the recent meeting in Paris of the OECD High-Level Policy Forum on the Future of People-Centred Health Innovation. We are fully committed to these international collaborative initiatives, which enrich our knowledge and guide health policies by presenting facts and arguments that are useful for decision-making. This partnership between the private sector and health policies is our priority. Coherent action can combat the fragmentation that threatens the necessary cooperation between all the players in the European social space.
