The results of the European elections show a new political landscape.
We understand that health is at the heart of people’s concerns, and we believe that this issue deserves greater attention in the new parliamentary term. The European nominations process for the new Commissioners, the distribution of parliamentary committees among the elected MEPs – all these stages will be important, and we will be paying close attention to these choices so that we can listen to the priority issues and share our experience in healthcare.
Transparency and the question of conflicts of interest will be particularly closely monitored. UEHP commitment as a federation will be respectful of these principles, and we expect the new leaders to listen and share their views, because be it in a health crisis or on the issue of efficiency, the private hospital sector is a major player in providing useful responses to social imbalances.
We have no doubt that this new Parliament will be able to place health at the heart of the issues that are essential if we are to succeed in building a more inclusive and efficient Europe. UEHP will be contributing to that effort.
