From 1 January 2024 Belgium will take over the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union, under the motto “A Europe that cares, prepares and protects”.

Under its presidency, Belgium will endeavour to:
- finish the ongoing trilogues on the European Health Data Space and the Regulation on Substances of Human Origin
- move forward on the pharmaceutical legislation and the recommendation on vaccine preventable cancers
- shape the health agenda for the next European Commission (2024-2029)
