Last 18 March, our President, Mr Oscar Gaspar, and our Secretary General, Ms Ilaria Giannico, had the privilege of meeting with MEP Adam Jarubas, chair of the SANT committee in the European Parliament and his team.
The SANT committee is responsible for public health matters related to:
- pharmaceuticals and medical devices;
- programmes and specific actions in the field of public health;
- health crisis preparedness and response;
- mental health and patients’ rights;
- health aspects of bioterrorism;
- the European Medicines Agency and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control;
- relations with the World Health Organization concerning the above matters.
The meeting with MEP Jarubas centered around key issues such as healthcare workforce retention and attractiveness, free movement of professionals, cybersecurity in European hospitals and the need to involve private hospitals in all discussions about the future of health.
Hospitals are hospitals, no matter the ownership. Private hospitals are part of the National healthcare systems, working every day for the delivery of the best treatment possible to our patients. This is a strength, and now more than ever, we must harness it.
We thank very much MEP Jarubas for the meaningful exchange! His openness and expertise in the hospital sector are key assets for a fruitful cooperation!
