UEHP selected for the Health Cybersecurity Advisory Board

The European Commission, through DG CONNECT and DG SANTE, launched in January 2025 the European Action Plan on Cybersecurity for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers.

This initiative aims to strengthen the resilience of the European Union’s healthcare systems in response to the growing number of cyberattacks and ransomware incidents affecting the sector. The plan is structured around four key pillars: prevention, detection, response and recovery, and deterrence.

As part of this plan, the Health Cybersecurity Advisory Board has been established – a group of experts tasked with identifying and sharing best cybersecurity practices among hospitals and healthcare providers, while promoting cooperation and information exchange between professionals and organizations across the healthcare sector.

The European Union of Private Hospitals (UEHP) has been selected to join this group for the next two years, with the possibility of renewal.

This marks an important step forward in strengthening the digital infrastructure of European healthcare, reinforcing citizens’ trust and ensuring patient safety across the European Union.

UEHP’s participation in this advisory body represents a recognition of the active and ongoing role that private hospitals in Europe play in safeguarding data and ensuring the digital security of the healthcare ecosystem”, said Oscar Gaspar, UEHP`s President

UEHP and its members proudly embrace this responsibility and are fully committed to contributing to a more innovative, prepared, and protected Europe in the field of healthcare cybersecurity.
