COVID-19 vaccine study: Private clinics cooperate
FEBRAURY 2022 – Since the middle of last year, the Schön Klinik Düsseldorf and the Helios Klinik Berlin-Buch have been project partners of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in the multicentre COViK study. The COViK study is a hospital-based case-control study with the aim of gaining insights into the safety and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines.

JANUARY 2020 – Actually, Anna-Maria Grimm, patient of the palliative ward at the Sana Klinikum Hof, thought that she didn’t have much time left. She was admitted to the clinic with an unclear abdominal swelling and two tumors were diagnosed. “My stomach hurt a lot, I just wanted to fall asleep.”
HELIOS celebrates 25 years of company history
OCTOBER 2019. It all starts with four clinics in Bad Schwartau, Bochum, Volkach and Bleicherode: In 1994, vascular surgeon Dr. Lutz Helmig founded the Helios Kliniken Group, today Europe’s largest private hospital group with 86 acute care hospitals in Germany alone.
„Sana Prevent“, a Custom made prevention
JUNE 2019. The German private hospital group Sana is expanding its range of services to include the new business area “Sana Prevent”. Under this brand name, prevention centers providing individual services to corporate customers and private patients will open all over Germany. The first “Sana Prevent” centre opened in June 2019 in Berlin on the campus of the Sana Hospital Lichtenberg.

JANUARY 2019.The economic situation of German hospitals remains difficult. In 2017, every third hospital wrote red numbers (30%), + 1% compared to the previous year. The share of hospitals with an annuel net profit is 60% and the one with a balanced annual result is 11%.

How to define quality?
JUNE 2018. The Ministry of Health has launched in 2015 the Institute for quality assurance and transparency in healthcare (IQTIG), which goal is to develop scientific stable quality indicators to compare the quality of medical treatment between hospitals, physicians and nursing homes. Hospitals have to provide annual data for public reporting.
