Vaccines: MEPs approve a non-binding resolution on vaccine hesitancy and the drop in vaccination rates in EU

Yesterday, 19 April, the European Parliament adopted an important non-binding resolution on vaccine hesitancy and the drop of vaccination rates in Europe, during the plenary session in Strasbourg.

Warning public confidence in vaccination is a major challenge that is already affecting health, Parliament said on Thursday.

This consultation seeks the input from patients, stakeholders, health care professionals, public authorities and others working on digital health for the new policy Communication that is expected to be adopted by the end of 2017.

HORIZON 2020: Interim evaluation results

On 29 May 2017, the Commission published the interim evaluation of Horizon 2020, required by Article 32 of the regulation establishing Horizon 2020.
The interim evaluation aims to contribute to improving the implementation of Horizon 2020 in its last Work Programme 2018-2020, to provide the evidence-base for the report of the High Level Group on maximizing the impact of EU Research and Innovation programmes and to inform the design of future Framework Programmes.

SEPTEMBRE 2016. Ilaria Giannico, new UEHP Secretary General, was invited by the Italian Association AIOP to visit the association’s headquarters in Rome. The UEHP has retained its right of membership of the E-Health Stakeholders Group of the European Commission created in 2012. Group membership has been renewed this year, 2016 and only 30 European associations have received the right to participate.

Patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare: where do we stand?

Five years after its approval, the 2011/24 directive, which aims to liberalise access to healthcare for citizens throughout the Union, did not take off, as evidenced by the small number of applications filed in 2014 (109,223 for Europe).
Published reports (2015 Commission report on the operation of the cross-border healthcare Directive and the Eurobarometer on Patient Rights published in May 2015) as well as ongoing discussions, show that concerns around patient information and National Contact Points (NCP) performances persist and continue to be identified as critical issues still to be addressed.
